I will admit it, I have not been a fan of Tim Tebow. I have mocked his celebrations and the apparent cult following that he has. I have said that he isn't a good quarterback (still believe that). I have made fun of his mechanics and his speech at Florida that now has it's own plaque. I laughed hysterically when the Denver Broncos took him in the first round. How could John Elway, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, take Tebow so high? Being a former QB, you would think that he could judge the talent of future QB prospects.
One thing I will say is that the guy is a winner and just gets it done. He looks terrible for 55 minutes and then takes over the last 5 minutes and wins the game. How does he do it? He has that never say die attitude. He works harder than anyone else out there and at the end of the day, feels good about the work he has put in. It is a team game and the Broncos defense has a lot to do with them winning games as well. Without the D playing at a high level, they would be too far behind for Tebow to create the magic. As a Detroit Lions fan, I watched the Lions go into Mile High and absolutely embarrass Tebow and the Broncos. I thought to myself, how bad is this team? 4 games later, the Denver Tebow's haven't lost and are trying to make the playoffs. He continues to defy the odds and win games. It isn't pretty by any means but it doesn't have to be.
I wouldn't call myself a born again Tebow fan, but I will no longer root against him. Heck I may even root for him. Why not root for a good guy? The NFL is full of thugs who wind up in the news for all the wrong reasons. Some of them are terrible role models and yet, we, as a nation, continue to root for them. Maybe it's time to change that.
